First item business, I think what they were doing to the elephants is cruel and should stop. Exposing animals to big exiting events causes the animals stress and it is a known fact that stress causes animals to die faster. I got frustrated after reading this book. E.G. would you put a weight 2X heavier than a dog on its back- NO, so why put it on a elephant.

  6. I agree with Maddy C, but I also think that this book was great. Although it is really cruel to domesticate and tame ENDANGERED animals, I thought that having a parade is fun and entertaining. No elephants actually had died of stress, but I am positive that inside their heads, they were really stressed. Anyway, this was sort of inspirational but average. Okay book. ***

  15. This book was OK. I do think it's very mean to put 800 pounds on an elephant's back. However I LOVED the illustrations of the elephants. I was sad how Drona died, and how Arjuna couldn't be a Royal Elephant because of the incident. There was good information at the back of the book.***

  43. I am doing a re-post to put my feelings out again. I still do strongly not agree with the cultural traditions. I think it is extremely cruel to make poor ENDANGERED animals carry a load of stress around on their backs. I would not put a cat carrier with a cat in it on a medium dog would you? I think not. I really wish I could delete my first comment because this one puts my feelings out there more. Now I should give the REAL star rating it deserves... nothing absalutly nothing that's right I'm not forgetting to put my star rating there.
