The Hallelujah Flight by Phil Bildner

In 1932, James Banning, along with his co-pilot Thomas Allen, make history by becoming the first African Americans to fly across the United States, relying on the generosity of people they meet in the towns along the way who help keep their "flying jalopy" going.

  7. Although this book was sort of short, I thought that it taught a lesson. The "Flying Hobos" didn't even make sense. Were they even hobos? Anyways, that aircraft looked pretty treacherous. I'm glad they survived the entire flight. That looked even more dangerous than Amelia Earhart's Flight (if this was non-fiction). Even so, this is a pretty decent book. Good job, Phil Bildner!
